I am thinking of writing a series of Philosophy Lite e-books, Philosophy of real-life, shorter books on various philosophical themes (such as philosophy of learning, friendship, dance, writing, doubt, religion, habits, reading, decision-making, housekeeping, personal growth, health, gardening, economy, etc) for the interested, reflecting reader with a sense of humour and a desire to strive for a better life for themselves, humanity and the universe.
My idea is that each book /theme should contain roughly the same structural elements, such as:
What the Greek and other philosophers had to say about it (i.e. plain hard-core philosophy);
What’s in it for me/you/the world (i.e. real-life applications and ethics);
Traps to avoid (i.e. what the bad guys can or have used the arguments /it for);
Footsteps to follow – or not (examples from history and contemporary or future society)
In a nutshell (basic facts – worth to remember, and odd facts – fun to tell);
How to prove yourself wrong (Skills and ways to argue for and against or simply dissolve the different standpoints)
What do you think?
Would you want to read such a series? Or some of the books /themes in it? What themes would you want it to cover? What structural elements would you want to find in each book? how long would you like such a book to be? 20 000 words? Anything else? Any other advice or comments you would like to give me, please do!
I would massively appreciate your help in answering these questions before I embark on this project. If it turns out not to be worthwhile doing, I’d rather find out straight away…
